Highlights

The new website needed to be modern and in keeping with the new brand guidelines that had been produced. The site needed to pass core web vitals, and maintain previous SEO standards.
The bespoke portal needed to connect to the Arlo API and pull course and registration details from Parallels system, in order to carry out functions that Arlo doesn’t offer. This includes being able to export registration and automatically email to clients.

Challenges

The main website also uses data from Arlo to display course information, via a plugin. The challenge was finding ways to create a bespoke layout, rather than using the standard templates. This was crucial in being able to maintain the brand identity. There was also a large amount of data that needed to be transferred from the old site to the new site, including 100s of blog posts that included call to actions that suited the old design. We had to find a way of efficiently changing all CTAs, without going through each one by one. Using Beaver Builders templates we could target a block and transform it into a new design!
The bespoke platform needed to initially authorise with Arlos API and once that had been achieved we could start the process of creating the necessary calls and then save the data in a database format that we could later use. For efficiency we had to optimise the number of calls we made to the API and setup an automated system that could pull new data through each evening.
Now we had all the data to hand we built a portal that could display the information in human readable format as well as complete tasks that had otherwise not been possible. These included:
  • Exporting registration details.
  • Triggering an automated email to the client that includes registration data
  • Triggering an automated email to trainers to remind them to update attendance data, hours after the course has finished.
ampersand

You’ve gone above and beyond. You do more than the standard Wordpress website….. you integrated that with our learning management system and course management system. When we weren’t getting the data we wanted from the course management system you really helped us to develop a portal that meant we could generate reports for our customers and streamline our back end systems, which we really appreciated.

Result

This was a very successful project as Parallel now have a new website, that mirrors their identity, for consistency, and provides visitors with a quick and engaging site. The portal has reduced the workload for their staff, saving once manual tasks from needing to be carried out and allowing some tasks to be achieved that previously weren’t possible without a lot of man hours.

Hear what Paul, from Parallel Project Training had to say about this project.

We continue to work with Parallel, to ensure the site remains up to date, as well as monitoring how website visitors use the site so we can adapt to users needs. This is important after any website launch and is one of the 5 steps we recommend you include in your website launch checklist.
