Did You Know Your Website has a Carbon Footprint?

This month is B Corp month ( March 2025 ) so what better time to tell you about an initiative that Ampersand Studio Ltd have introduced, this year, to do our small bit for climate change.

🌳 For every new website hosting we get this year we will plant a tree that, for most business websites, will offset the carbon footprint of the website usage for a year or more.

💡How does a website have a carbon footprint? Well every time a web page is loaded there is an energy cost involved in the servers that deliver the website. The more pages loaded and the bigger the size of those pages, the more energy required.

🌟 As well as offsetting the carbon footprint you can also look at optimisation techniques to reduce the size of each web page and therefore reducing the amount of energy required to load the page.

🏞️ Always optimise your images and videos, minimise the assets that are delivered and don't include content unnecessarily - make sure everything has value that appears on your site.

❓If you're considering options for your website hosting, would like to know what the carbon footprint of your website is or would just like to discuss optimisation options for your website then please do get in touch.
